Ethiopia's prime minister appoints Cabinet made up of 50 per cent women 'Our women ministers will disprove the old adage that women can't lead,' says Abiy Ahmed Ethiopia 's Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has announced a political reshuffle which means women ministers now make up a record 50 per cent of the new cabinet . The sweeping changes saw 10 of the 20 positions going to women. It included the appointment of Aisha Mohammed as defence minister-the first woman to hold that position in the country. Muferiat Kamil, who had previously served as House speaker, was also named Ministry of Peace.
